Collect from alumni and supporters

Run supporter groups like alumni giving or a moms' club, with tiers people join and pay for at their own link.

Supporters lets people outside your roster, such as alumni, parents and boosters, give to your chapter on a schedule. You create a group (like "Alumni Giving" or "Mom's Club"), add tiers with a price and how often it's charged, and share the group's link. Supporters join and pay there, and MyGreek charges them automatically. It's a Plus plan feature, and your chapter must be set up to accept payments.

Admins and officers with Manage Supporter Groups can create and change groups and tiers. Officers with View Supporter Groups can see supporters.

Create a supporter group

  1. In Supporters, select New Group.
  2. Enter a Group name, for example "Mom's Club".
  3. Enter the end of the Group URL, for example moms-club. Use 3 to 50 lowercase letters, numbers or hyphens.
  4. Select Create.

Then open the group and select Settings to finish it:

  • Description, and a Success message (shown after joining).
  • Cover image and Primary color. If you leave them empty, the page uses your chapter logo.
  • Show supporter count on public page.
  • Processing Fee Passthrough: Enabled (supporters always pay the processing fees), Disabled (your chapter pays them) or Optional (each supporter chooses at checkout).

Select Save Settings.

Add tiers

A tier is one way to support the group, with its own price and schedule, like "Bronze" at $10 a month or "Lifetime" at $250 once.

  1. Open the group. On the Tiers tab, select Add Tier.
  2. Enter a Tier name, an optional Description, and the Amount.
  3. Under Type, choose Recurring (charged every set number of months or years) or One-time (charged once, for lifetime access).
  4. Optionally list Benefits, like "Name on the house plaque".
  5. Select Save.

When you change a tier's price or schedule, the change only applies to new supporters. People who already joined keep their current rate.

Each group has a public page at supporters.mygreek.us/your-chapter/your-group. On the group's page in Supporters, select Copy public link, or QR code to show a code people can scan. Put the link in your alumni newsletter, parents' email or social posts.

The link uses your chapter's store address. If you don't see Copy public link, email support@mygreek.us.

How supporters join and pay

On your group's page, a supporter picks a tier, signs in, enters their name and contact details, and pays with a saved card or bank account. The first payment is charged right away; if it fails, they don't join. Recurring tiers are then charged automatically on their schedule. Each person can join a tier once.

See your supporters

On a group, the Subscribers tab shows each supporter's Name, Email, Tier, Amount, Status and Next Charge. All Subscribers shows supporters from every group. Turn on Show former members to see people who canceled. Select a supporter to see their Subscription and Charge history.

Supporter payments are paid out with your chapter's other payments, to your payout account. See How payouts work.

When a supporter's payment fails

If a recurring payment fails, MyGreek tries again 3 days later, and Next Charge shows a warning while it retries. After 3 failed attempts in a row, or if the card is declined outright, the membership is canceled and the supporter gets an email. To keep giving, they need to join again from your group's link.

Cancel a membership or close a group

  • Cancel one supporter: select them, then Cancel Membership. It takes effect immediately, they won't be charged again, and it can't be undone. Supporters can also cancel themselves.
  • Close a group: in the group's Settings, select Deactivate Group. This permanently cancels every active membership and emails each supporter. If you reactivate the group later, they have to join again.

Emails supporters receive

All supporter emails come from MyGreek:

  • Welcome ("Welcome to [group] — [chapter]"): their tier, the next charge date and amount, and a Manage my membership button.
  • Receipt ("Your [group] membership receipt"): after the first payment and every renewal, with the amount, fees, payment method and next charge date.
  • Payment failed ("Action required: [group] payment failed"): when a membership ends because payments failed.
  • Canceled ("Your [group] membership has been cancelled"): when you or the supporter cancels, or you deactivate the group.

Common questions

Should chapter members join a supporter group?

Supporter groups are for people outside your roster. To bill members, use charges. See Charge members.

I changed a tier's price. Why are supporters still paying the old amount?

Price and schedule changes only apply to people who join after the change. Existing supporters keep the rate they signed up at.
